The Long and Winding Road Towards New Treatments for Lymphatic Filariasis and Onchocerciasis: eWHORM’s Work Presented in Trends in Parasitology Journal

Earlier this month, eWHORM published its first review in the Trends in Parasitology journal, focusing on the pathways towards new treatments for helminth infections, which are the focus of the project.

The review highlights new drug candidates, including Oxfendazole, the compound selected by the project, and its preparation for preclinical development. eWHORM partners UKB and DNDi collaborated to establish this review, setting the foundation for strong cooperation between academia, pharmaceutical companies, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and local stakeholders.

Such collaboration is essential to facilitate the development, production, and distribution of new treatment strategies. To read the full publication, click here.
